Abstract

PURPOSE: To expand the permissible ranges of the relative positions of a wire and beam and distance and enable the wire to be stably supplied by specifying the ratio between the amplitude in the weld line direction and fly wire diameter while letting an electron beam oscillate.
CONSTITUTION: While an electron beam 2 is being oscillated in the both directions of the weld line direction 9 and the direction 8 orthogonal to the weld line by a deflecting coil 10, welding is done. The oscillation shapes may be elliptical, circular and square, by which the permissible range of the relative positions of the fly wire 4 and beam 2 and the distance between both may be expanded. The latter may be expanded up to ±1.5mm in case the beam vibration length of, e.g., the direction 9, is 1.5mm, thus the wire 4 may be stably supplied. The oscillation width of the direction 8 is determined under the conditions under which the groove spacing is sufficiently melted. In the three o'clock position and flat positions, the oscillation width of the direction 9 is made 2.5 times (maximum 4.5mm) or less the wire diameter to prevent welding defects and to prevent sagging of molten metal in the former and is made 0.2 time or more to obtain the effect.
