Abstract

PURPOSE: To always keep constant the display contrast, by producing the constant voltage with the secondary battery charged with sollar cell and using the pulse having the constant level due to the zero bias time in response to the detection temperature and having the width controlled with temperature.
CONSTITUTION: The constant voltage circuit supplies the constant level voltage to the liquid crystal drive circuit independently of the voltage variation immediately before or after the charging of the seoncary battery, by taking the secondary battery charged up with sollar cell as energy source. On the other hand, to this liquid crystal drive circuit, the zero bias time signal is fed corresponding to the temperature outputted with the temperature compensation circuit in response to the ambient temperature detected with the temperature detection element, and the liquid crystal drive circuit supplies the drive pulse different in the width in response to temperature at the constant level at all times to the liquid crystal element to perform the liquid crystal display with constant contrast at all times independently of the charging of secondary battery and ambient temperature.
