Abstract

PURPOSE: To prick needles into a raw tyre uniformly over the whole peripheral surface by use of a raw tyre pricking device of specified constitution wherein all the needle pricking work conventionally conducted manually is mechanized.
CONSTITUTION: A pair of needle pricking members 4 are oppositely arranged with a conveyor 1 therebetween, and advanced and retracted synchronously. An elevator 11 is moved up and down by a strut 9 on one side of the conveyor 1, and fitted with a raw tyre fixing device 8. The device 8 comprises: a raw tyre holder 13 of which the lower end portion is inserted in the central space of a raw tyre a and expanded there to intimately hold the tyre a; an expansion mechanism 14 which expands or contracts the holder 13 according to the inside diameter of the tyre a; and a rotary indexing mechanism 15 which rotates the holder 13 holding the tyre a by a preset angle span each time to cause needles to be uniformly pricked into the peripheral surface of the tyre a by the members 4. The tyre a is fed to the holder 3 by a pair of feed arm levers 3 which are arranged oppositely and rotate horizontally on the conveyor 1 synchronously.
