Abstract
PURPOSE: To enable images to be observed in magnification or scale-down by using light-transmittable polymer of high refractive index as an island component and polymer of refractive index lower than that of the former as a sea component and providing a section whose one end is analogously larger than the other.
CONSTITUTION: In the optical wire-form body composed of at least two components A, B, a light-transmittable polymer of a high refractive index is used as an island component for the A component and the component B of a refractive index smaller than that of the component A is used as a sea component. For example, a bold columnar object 2 of polymethyl methacrylate as the component B is opened with 10 or more holes 1, into which round bars of polystyrene as the component A are inserted. This columnar object is heated in a suitable device such as extruder and is extruded through a fine nozzle, whereby it is formed slender at one end C and is so formed at the other end to the size of the original columnar body as to have a large sectional area B. In this way, the optical wire-form body A which is highly flexible, is difficult to receive the effect of wetting and clouding and permits magnified or scaled-down viewing of images is obtained.
