Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve productivity by arranging many mimic heads on the same track to perform the varnish process in production of a magnetic disc medium.
CONSTITUTION: In the varnish process for magnetic disc medium 1 where the polish process for the magnetic applied film formed on a disc substrate is completed, many mimic heads are used. That is, mimic heads 2', 2 and 2" fitted to arm 3 which is moved in the arrow direction by voice coil motor 4 are arranged on the same track of magnetic disc medium 1 rotated in the arrow direction (the floating quantity of heads 2', 2 and 2" is smaller than that of a magnetic head used normally), and arm 3 is operated to scan magnetic disc medium 1 from the outer side to the inner side successively. If many mimic heads are used as the above, the time for elimination of protrusions on the medium is shortened in comparison with the conventional method (reduced to 1/n approximately if n-number heads are used).
