Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve reliability of rotor, by means wherein a test piece cut off from rotor blank is measured by material testing method, determine the caliber and axis of a center hole depending on the result of the above measurement, and thereby process the center hole of rotor to have a necessary minimal caliber.
CONSTITUTION: After forging a rotor blank 1 and applying heat treatment to the same, a center hole having a relatively small diameter is formed at the central portion of blank 1. Distribution of non-metallic impurities in the blank 1 is measured by applying the sulphur printing test to a test piece which is cut off from the blank 1. Here, if the result of measurement is within a tolerable range, caliber and position of the center hole that has been formed in blank 1 are used as final ones. On the other hand, if the result is out of the tolerable range, another center hole is bored additionally in blank 1.
