Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a light-weight plate type catalyst having small-sized catalyst layer by depositing a catalyst on a substrate and molding the catalyst, the said substrate being obtained by depositing molten material on wire gauze by atomizing the molten material.
CONSTITUTION: Molten atomized material 3 such as molten stainless, titanium is deposited on wire gauze consisting of core wire 1 of vertical wire gauze and core wire 2 of horizontal wire gauze by atomizing the molten metal, to produce a substrate having rough surface. A slurry or gel of a catalyst 4 is deposited on the substrate by an impregnation method, a coating method, etc., to produce plate type catalyst. Though the catalyst is a thin and light-weight product, the catalyst has satisfactory strength.
