CONSTITUTION: 1,2,4-Trimethylbenzene is separated from a mixture containing trimethylbenzene isomers, (pref. containing 20W60 wt% of 1,2,4-trimethybenzene), by treating with an absorbent comprising an L-type synthetic zeolite or its metal ion-substituted product (the alkali metal ions in the L-type zeolite are substituted with proton, other alkali metal ion, or pref. alkaline earth metal ion).
