Abstract

PURPOSE: To easily manufacture a gear member having a reverse-tapered tooth form without using a special die or the like, by combining hot plastic working and cold plastic working with each other.
CONSTITUTION: Teeth 13, each of which is chamfered at 13a on its lower end and has a face 13b and a bottom face 13c which are parallel with the axis X-X of a boss part 11, are formed on a tooth-worked part 13 along its total circumference by hot plastic working and cold plastic working in a first process. At that time, the worked part 12 is bent downward so that its upper and lower ends 12a, 12b are provided with an angle of α necessary for reverse-tapering these ends 12a, 12b as to the upper end face 11a of the boss part 11. In a second process, the cold-plastic-worked part 12 is bent back to eliminate the angle of α. A gear member can thus be easily manufactured without using a die having special tapered teeth or the like.
