Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the intended decorative material having an excellent antiquing effect by preheating a foaming agent containing synthetic resin layer, forming an embossed pattern with an embossing roll, applying a valley staining printing with a foaming inhibiter containing printing ink and foaming the resin.
CONSTITUTION: A foaming agent containing synthetic resin paste 2 is laminated on the surface of a base material made of paper, cloth or the like with a coating doctor 3 or the like and the resin layer is dried with a drying furnace 4 to form a film layer 5 on the entire surface. Then, a preheating is given the material with a heater 6 below the foaming agent decomposition temperature, and an embossing is applied on the resin layer 5 to form a desired embossed pattern. Thus, an unfoamed embossed resin layer 8 is obtained. Susequently, with a foaming inhibiter containing printing ink 9 placed on the surface, a antiquing printing is applied with a scraping doctor 10 or the like to yield an embossed resin layer 11. Then, the resin is allowed to foam by heating with a foaming furnace 12 and passed through a cooling roll 14. Thus, the relief type decorative material can be obtained having a resin layer 13 with a concave vs convex depth difference identical to the density of the antiquing printing.
