Abstract

PURPOSE: To make the tea regeneration process automatic, and to improve the quality of regenerated product remarkably, by decreasing the rpm of a rotary pot stepwise, and controlling the working conditions such as heating conditions, etc. of each step within a predetermined range.
CONSTITUTION: Crude tea leaves fed into a rotary pot 1 rotating at 11 rpm are stirred with scraping blades 2, etc. and dried at about 90°C for about 7 minutes with hot air blasted through a burner 5a at 200°C. At the second step, the rpm of the pot 1 is decreased to 9 rpm, and the dried tea leaves are further heated at 90°C for about 5 minutes to obtain a water content of about 1%. At the third step, the heating of the pot is switched from the indirect heating with the burner 5a to the direct heating with burners 5b, the rpm of the pot 1 is further decreased, and the tea leaves are dried at 110°C for about 3 minutes. The fourth step is carried out at an rpm of 5, stopping the exhaustion blower 11, and imparting specific flavor to the tea leaves by heating under the condition of the previous step. The product can be discharged by reversing the direction of rotation of the pot 1. The above operations are controlled automatically by a controlling circuit comprising a timer, relays, etc.
