Abstract
PURPOSE: To make it possible to mold a thin-walled electric wire covering or a small-diameter filament, with improved melt strength of the resin free from resin breakage, by foam molding a thermoplastic resin in the presence of fiber-forming polytetrafluoroethylene.
CONSTITUTION: (A) 100 Parts by wt. of a thermoplastic resin, preferably a fluororesin, such as melt-moldable ethylene-tetrafluoroethylene copolymer having a melt index of 0.5W8, from the view point of characteristics, is foamed in the presence of (B) 0.01W10 parts by wt. of fiber-forming polytetrafluoroethylene to give a thermoplastic resin foam. Diisopropyl hydrozodicarbaxylate decomposing at 260W 360°C may be used as a blowing agent, in an amount of about 0.1W10 parts by wt. per 100 parts by wt. of (A). 0.3W10 Parts by wt. of talc is added as a foam nucleator.
