Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase the amount of exhaust return flow automatically with the increase of the number of revolutions, by providing two control valves which are opened and closed by different nagative pressures at suction pipe in an exhaust gas return path in the suction system.
CONSTITUTION: Suction path 2 in the lower stream of stop valve 11 is provided with spaces 6a and 6b, and further insert 6 having many small holes 6c and 6d, which link spaces 6a and 6b to suction path 2. Spaces 6a and 6b are linked to each other via exhaust pipe 7 and return flow paths 10a and 10b. Paths 10a and 10b are provided with EGR control valves 9a and 9b. The suction pipe negative pressures of the upper and lower streams 12a and 12b immediately above and below stop valve 11 are drawn into the negative pressure chambers of both control valves 9a and 9b. That is, both control valves 9a and 9b open in succession with the degree of opening of stop valve, and thereby the amount of return flow is increased.
