Abstract
PURPOSE: To enhance the Co extracting rate, in separation extraction of Co by treating a Ni and Co-contg. sulfuric acid soln. with an org. solvent contg. a specified extracting reagent, by multistage-treating the soln. while changing the pH of the solvent.
CONSTITUTION: Ni and Co are extracted from raw material with sulfuric acid or the like, and the Co is selectively extracted from the Ni and Co-contg. soln. and separated from the Ni by multistage-contacting the Ni and Co-contg. soln. to an org. solvent prepared by diluting an alkylphosphonic acid monoalkyl ester extracting reagent of formula I (where R1 and R2 are same or different 8W10C alkyl yet R1 and R2 both are not 8C alkyl) with kerosine or the like. At this time, the pH of the solvent is adjusted to 5 or less in the first stage and to 5.5W7.0 on and after the second stage, and the solvent is contacted at about 60°C. Thus, a viscosity rise of the org. extracting phase is prevented, and the Co separation extracting rate is enhanced as a whole.
