Abstract

PURPOSE: To make possible sintering at lower temperature than before and enable metal muffle case to be used by heating the powder metal of Fe base containing Cr in a N2 atmosphere and subjecting the same to diffusion sintering.
CONSTITUTION: The lubricant used at the forming of metal powder is removed of lubricants in a pre-treating furnace 1, after which it is sintered in a sintering furnace 2 and is cooled in a cooling chamber 3, thence the sintered product is widthrawn from a mesh belt 5. At this time, N2 gas is introduced through N2 gas inlet 7 to maintain the spacing between metal curtains 6 in a N2 atmosphere. Since the N2 gas is stably supplied at dew point -70°C or less and residual O2 2ppm or less, sintering at 1150°C or less becomes feasible and it becomes possible to use a metal muffle case 4. In addition, a mesh belt 5 may be moved in endless form in the case 4 and therefore continuous sintering becomes easy.
