Abstract

PURPOSE: To realize the high-accuracy A/D and D/A conversion with use of the low-cost value bit D/A converter by forming the comparison-type A/D converters in sequence via the D/A converters featuring a smaller number of the bit than that of the accumulator.
CONSTITUTION: The A/D conversion is started first from the higher-rank bit featuring a large amplitude, and the contents of area A of accumulator 11 is transferred to area B at the moment when the A/D conversion finished by the input bit number of D/A converter 10. In this instant, the immediately preceding D/A conversion output is applied to integrating circuit 9 via switch 13 and then stored at area A in the form of the data after subtraction 8 from the input analog signal and comparison 3 with the D/A conversion output. In that case, the data at area B is also shifted, and the data at area A is transferred to the area shifted out. After this, the similar procedures are repeated, and the contents is transferred to shift register 14 when the data is written into all digits of accumulator 11 to be then read out with the fixed timing in the form of the digital signal.
