Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain deodorants which possess strong adsorption power to adsorb foul-smelling components, inhibit the rot of adsorbed components and show the desired deodorization effect for a prolonged period, by blending zeolite with magnesium chloride, magnesium oxide and benzoic acid.
CONSTITUTION: Magnesium oxide is added to a vessel which can be isolated from the atmosphere as completely as possible. Magnesium chloride is added with stirring to the vessel to form a film of magnesium oxide on the surface of magnesium chloride. Then zeolite having proper particle size (preferably above 250 mesh) and benzoic acid are added with stirring to the vessel to mix, and thus a deodorant is produced. The blending ratio can properly determined, but a composition consisting of 33% of each of zeolite, magnesium oxide and magnesium chloride and a very small amount of benzoic acid is preferred. The deodorant obtained shows adsorption power which zeolite originally possesses together with the effect of magnesium chloride and magnesium oxide in adsorbing foul-smelling components.
