Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve heat conduction to a heat concentrating plate and to provide electrical insulation by providing pn junction and its inverse junction, i.e. np junction performing photoelectric conversion, on the back surface of a solar cell.
CONSTITUTION: A p-layer is diffused on both sides of an n-type substrate, and a portion of the p-layer on the light-receiving side is etched. Electrodes are attached to the p-layer on the light-receiving side and the exposed n-type substrate, and a solar cell 4 is formed. Photoelectric conversion is made at a pn junction on the light-receiving side, individual electrodes are connected in series, and the electric output is obtained at both ends. An np junction 6 on the back side is fixed by soldering the p- layer and a heat concentrating plate 2 so that excellent heat conduction is obtained. In this step, the lowest potential point of the upper junction 5 of the series-connected solar cells 4 are made to be equal to the potential of the heat concentrating plate 2, and said point and the plate 2 is connected. Inverse bias is applied to the lower junction 6, and the electrical insulation is maintained. By this constitution, the solar cell having excellent heat conductivity can be obtained with electrical insulation being maintained.
