Abstract

PURPOSE:To raise workability of preparation for plate group by forming integrally connecting pieces for connecting strap and cell at the time when the lug portion of plate is fused in the formation of both anode and cathode plate groups. CONSTITUTION:The plate group for one cell is formed by overlapping definite numbers of the anodic plate 1, the partition plate, and the cathodic plate 2. Tools for forming comb-shaped straps are fitted into each of the lug portions 6 of the anodic plate 1 and the cathodic plate 2 and then the lug portions projecting from the tools are fused by a gas burner, where a formation groove is provided at the upper part of the tools, by which the extending portion 3a for forming the strap 4 and the intercell connecing piece 3 is formed integrally. The extending portion 3a, formed in the horizontal state similarly to the strap 4, is bent upwards to form the intercell connecting piece 3. In case where through hole or projection for connection is required for the connecting piece 3, a short bar portion or a recess is beforehand formed in the tools.
