PURPOSE: In fabricating a sintered film of P-type CdTe, Cd as a donor is diffused from the CdS sintered film side thereto to convert it to a n-type thereby to facilitate the formation of a pn junction.
CONSTITUTION: After the formation of a CdS sintered film 3 an organic tackifier is added to p-type CdtE containing excessive Te more than the stoichiometric ratio to convert it to a pasty state to burn it on the film 3. In the process of burning, simultaneously with the sublimation of CdTe, Cd and Te are turned into vapor. The vapor pressure of Cd is high as compared with that of Te. As a result, Te becomes excessive, and therefore a part at a side opposite to the Cds sintered film 3 side is left to be a p-type.
