Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the title rigid foam of uniform fine structure and low brittleness, having high heat resistance and flame-retardancy, by the reaction, in a specific wight ratio, between an organic polyisocyarate, a glycol, and a polyethertriol prepared by adding ethylene oxide to trimethylolpropane.
CONSTITUTION: The objective rigid foam can be obtained by the reaction, in the presence of a catalyst consisting chiefly of triethylenediamine and an epoxy compound, a blowing agent, etc., between (a) an organic polyisocyanate such as polyphenylene polymethylene polyisocyanate, diphreylmethane diisocyanate, (b) a glycol such as ethylene glycol, diethylene glycol, and (c) a polyethertriol with a hydroxyl value of 200W1000mg KOH/g, prepared by adding ethylene oxide to trimethylol- propane. The hydroxyl equivalents of the components (b) and (c) are each 0.05W 0.8 per equivalent of the isocyarate group of the component (a), totalling ≤1.
