Abstract
PURPOSE: To treat surely waste gas and supply liquid to gas-liquid contacting part from a liquid tank in case of a power failure, a pump fault or failed starting of a stand-by pump by providing an absorption or reaction liquid tank above the gas- liquid contacting part.
CONSTITUTION: In case of a power failure, valves 5, 8 are closed, a valve 10 is opened and from a liquid tank positioned above the gas-liquid contacting apparatus 2 absorption or reaction liquid within a tank 6 is supplied through a pipe 12, a valve 10, a pipe 13 and a valve 9 to the gas-liquid contacting apparatus 2. Waste gas is safely treated by the supply of the liquid from the liquid tank 6 until an emergency power source is started or a protective safety measures for a vacuum equipment is taken. In this case, the liquid tank 6 is connected to the upper part of the gas-liquid contacting apparatus 2 by means of a pipe 14, whereby pressure balance is maintained. Under this construction, failure in supplying liquid being caused by the reduction in the pressure resulting from the lowering of the surface of the liquid within the tank 6 is prevented.
