Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide a segment seal, in which a retainer plate and a seal ring consisting of a plurality of segmental members coupled together in an annular form are urged at one side thereof onto a flange portion by spring by the intermediary of a push board, whereby it is enabled to improve sealing performance of the seal, to simplify manufacturing of the same, and to facilitate attachment and detachment of the seal.
CONSTITUTION: Seal ring 8 is made of a plurality of segmental members. The ring 8 is sealed on both sides thereof by means of push board 9 and flange portion 6 and sealed around its outer circumference by means of retainer plate 13, so that fluid is not allowed to pass through the inside of annular member 4 and the inside of annular member 4 is sealed positively from the outside. Further, by the provision of spring 10 and push board 9 between two flange portions 6 and 7, push board 9 and flange portion 6 can be held in tight contact with seal ring 8 and retainer plate 13 when the seal ring 8 is fitted in place, with no need of enhancing accuracy of the axial spacing of the two flange portions 6 and 7. Thus, manufacturing of the seal can be facilitated considerably.
