Abstract
PURPOSE: To realize the automatic adjustment of a recording system corresponding to the kind of a tape by recording and reproducing two reference signal differing in frequency and then by using either reproduction output for an adjustment of a bias current and the other for selection of an equalizer.
CONSTITUTION: Low and high-band reference signals from audio frequency signal generating circuit 11 are recorded on tape 15 being superposed together with a bias current after possing through gain circuit 18 controlled by a gradual increasing voltage outputted by transition voltage generating circuit 22. When the output voltage of circuit 22 returns to its initial state, switch 21 is changed over through FF 24 and connected to contact (b). Reproduction outputs obtained by heads 25 and 26 are separated by filter circuits 30 and 35 and the peak value of the low-frequency reproduction output is detected by peak holding circuit 32, thereby fixing the bias current to the best value through circuit 18 automatically. Further, the high-frequency reproduction output is compared with the highest detection value of circuit 32 by comparator circuit 37 and an equalizer is automatically selected through equalizer change-over circuit 38 corresponding to the kind of the tape, so that the best automatic adjustment of the recording system can be made corresponding to the kind of the tape.
