Abstract

PURPOSE: To produce the captioned metal body of superior lubricity by mixing the MoS2 powder and granules covered with Cu into sintered meral material, molding the mixture and sintering the same in a hydrogen atmosphere.
CONSTITUTION: MoS2 powder and granules are coated with Cu of 10W30%. The Cu-coated MoS2 powder and granules are compounded and mixed at about 2W7% in sintered metal material and the mixture is molded. The molding is sintered in a hydrogen atmosphere at the temperature around 800°C in the case of Cu-base sintered material and at around 1100°C in the case of Fe-base sintered material. After sintering treatment, MoS2 is suitably exposed and since there is no change of properties of MoS2 to MoO3, the sintered metal body of superior lubricity may be obtained.
