Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide an earth retaining method, which comprises a step of embedding underground beams before excavating soil between a pair of opposite earth retaining walls, whereby it is enabled to construct earth retaining walls without causing deflection of sheet piles that is otherwise caused along with excavation of the ground, to reduce the depth of excavation in driving the retaining walls into the ground, and thus to simplify the construction works.
CONSTITUTION: A pair of earth retaining walls 1 are at first driven into the ground along the border lines of excavation. Then, beams 4 are fitted between the opposite retaining walls 1 and forced into the ground to a required depth along sheet piles or the like, thus embedding underground beams. Thereafter, soil is excavated between opposite retaining walls 1.
