Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain granules having a uniform size in high yield, by coating preformed protuberant spherical core drugs rotated centrifugally with a coating material.
CONSTITUTION: Fine crystal powder, e.g. lactose or granulated sugar, having a particle size of 32W42 mesh, is coated with a paste, e.g. polyvinyl pyrrolidone, while being rotated in a centrifugal flow coating granulator to form protuberant spherical core drugs, which are then coated with a coating material to give a larger particle size. Nontoxic carbohydrate free from drug effects on the core drugs is preferably used to uniform the size and specific gravity. This method can be applied to preparation of drugs, fertilizens, feeds, and candies.
