Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain high-purity cephamycin C effectively, by removing inorganic ions from a cephamycin C-containing medium through electrodialysis with an ion exchange membrane without inactivating the antibiotic, and by selectively adsorbing the cephamycin C with an anion exchange resin.
CONSTITUTION: A culuture filtrate containing cephamycin C is desalted by an electrodialysis cell with an ion exchange membrane, and the resulting solution is treated with an anion exchange membrane to adsorb the cephemycin C, which is then eluted by an eluent. The cephamycin C or its salt is collected from the active eluted fraction.
