Abstract

PURPOSE: To ensure the accurate reproduction of the picture image in which the density levels are distributed continuously by deciding the pattern block the binary value of which is formed from the picture element density value which is obtained by giving a logical division to the screen into the meshy element spots and then scanning the element spots.
CONSTITUTION: The picture is divided logically into the meshes as shown in the figure and receives the scanning, thus obtaining picture density data 1. Data 1 is then made to pass through normalizing unit 2 for normalization. Using this normalized value, pattern block selector 3 is actuated to decide the pattern blocks (shown in the figures) formed by the binary value corresponding each other in the meshy formation. using these pattern blocks along with data transfer clock 6, the output pattern is reproduced to memory 4 via address indicator 5 to be delivered from output buffer 7. In such way, a picture in which the picture element desnsity levels are distributed even and continuously can be reproduced accurately without lowering the resolving power and the gradation reproducing capacity.
