Abstract

PURPOSE: To surely join glass without appearance of a strain by covering low m.p. glass onto the protruded current supply terminal parts of a sealing metal body and by using the resulting sealing body.
CONSTITUTION: Wire rods 4, 4 are formed into a semicircular shape, butted, and formed into a circular shape corresponding to the shape of joining surfaces 5, 6 of panel 1 and funnel 2. Both ends of rods 4, 4 are bent radiately and welded to form current supply terminal parts 7,7. The surface of the base of each part 7 is covered with low m.p. glass 8, thus producing sealing metal body 3. By supplying a current to body 3 surfaces 5, 6 of panel 1 and funnel 2 are preheated and then heat melted. After perfectly wetting surfaces 5, 6 by melting, the current supply is stopped, and the joined part is slowly cooled to room temp.
