CONSTITUTION:In broadside rolling of rolling the plate width of metal plates and particularly slabs, rolling is performed while pushing force is being applied from the trailing end of the material 5 to be rolled by using the pushing device constituted by a hydraulic cylinder 1, pusher rob 2, pushing head 3, etc. As a result, the fish tails which are produced in the top and bottom parts of the rolled material by ordinary methods considerably reduce at both top and bottom parts, whereby the broadside rolling of high yield is made possible. The pushing force of this case is above 0.1 kg/mm<2> per unit area of the rolled material and the stress of about 10 to 30% of yield stress is the most effective range.
