Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the starting performance and to save the power consumption, by forming a conductive transparent film on the inner face of tubular glass bulb, then encapsulating a rare gas such as krypton in said bulb.
CONSTITUTION: The bulb has 28W30mm of outer diameter and 1100W1200mm of overall length, while the starting gas is composed of three component mixed gas of argon, krypton and neon where the ratio of krypton in said gas is 30W70%. Said transparent conductive film 2 is provided entirely on the inner face of bulb 1 except a portion of both ends of the tube, where the total resistance of the film 2 between two points 1b, 1b separated by 100mm from both ends 1a, 1b of the bulb 1 is 50W 3000KΩ while the entire resistance of the film 2 between two points 1c, 1c separated by 300mm from both ends 1a, 1b of the bulb 1 is 10W80KΩ.
