Abstract

CONSTITUTION: A modifier comprising a sulfo ester of formula I: [R is H or methyl group; Ar is benzene or naphthalene nucheus substituted by one or more alkyl groups or groups of formula II or III (Y is 1W3C alkylene group); A is alkylene group; n and x are 0 or 1, n+x>1; M is mono- or bivalent cation; m is the valency of M (1 or 2)]. About 0.1W10wt% of the modifier is incorporated into a polymer to prepare a hydrophobic one having improved dyeability and antistatic properties, and about 20W60wt% of the modifier is used for a hydrophilic one.
