Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the small-size, low-power and low-voltage drivable display panel by providing concave transverse groove arrays on the surface of a one-side transparent electrode substrate, forming transparent electrodes in the bottom of the grooves and subsequently putting guest-host liquid crystals of red, blue and green in the grooves.
CONSTITUTION: Horizontal scanning transparent electrodes 7 and a polarizing plate 12 are provided to an upper glass substrate 10. A reflecting plate 16 is made on one surface of a lower glass substrate 15 and concave stripe grooves are made in the other surface. Vertical scanning transparent electrodes 17 are provided in the bottom thereof. Guest-host liquid crystals of green 18, blue 19, red 20 of a high dichromatic ratio are put in these grooves. The groove widths are made smaller in the order of the blue 19, red 20 and green 18 based on the luminosity of the human eyes, whereby color balances and contrast may be improved.
