Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide the subject method and device wherein a upper squeeze head is located in accordance with the contour of a pattern, and to push up a surface plate to pressure mold molding sand in the molding flask from the upper and lower parts, thereby to mold effectively and excellently a molding flask for a large size material.
CONSTITUTION: A surface plate 12 is disposed on a conveyor (not shown), and a pattern 14 and a molding flask 11 are placed on said plate. After charging the molding sand 13 therein, they are placed in the molding machine. Then, a hydraulic motor 8 is rotated up to the graduation of a rotational angle detector 9 set in compliance with the contour of the pattern 14, and a plurality of squeeze heads 1 are caused to descend. On the other hand, a molding flask stopper 10 is caused to ascend or descend and fixed at a position corresponding to the compression quantity of the molding sand, and thereafter only the molding flask 11 is pushed up until it comes into contact with a molding flask stopper 10 by a molding flask lifting and lowering ram 17. Subsequently, a mold pressing ram 15 is lifted until the flange 26 of the surface plate 12 comes into contact with the mold 11 thereby to apply pressure and compress the molding sand 13.
