Abstract

PURPOSE: To form ferrite precipitates with heavy metals taken in without heating in a short oxidation time by adding ferrous hydroxide to waste liquor contg. the metals and by flowing the liquor onto a flat plate in the form of a film to raise the contact efficiency between the liquor and an oxidizing atmosphere.
CONSTITUTION: Waste liquor contg. heavy metals in storage tank 1 is introduced into treatment vessel 4, where ferrous hydroxide is formed by supplying alkali and ferrous ion from alkali vessel 5 and ferrous ion vessel 6, respectively. Next the ferrous hydroxide-contg. waste liquor is slowly moved on plate 14 obliquely supported in air through three way valve 10 to contact the liquor to oxygen in air. The liquor dropped into vessel 15 is flowed onto plate 14 again with pump 20 through valve 10. This process is repeated until the heavy metals in the liquor are taken in ferrite, and the ferrite with the metals taken in is allowed to be adsorbed on the surface of rotary magnetic drum 18 in magnetic separation vessel 17, and it is separated with scraper 19.
