Abstract

PURPOSE: To inject a proper amt. of a reducing agent, in oxidation-reduction treatment, by previously calculating the difference between the oxidation-reduction potential of a soln. before treatment and that at a desired value to control the amt. of the agent to be injected.
CONSTITUTION: In oxidation-reduction treatment, e.g. reduction treatment of waste contg. polyvalent metal ion such as hexavalent chromium ion using sodium hydrogensulfite as a reducing agent, the difference between the oxidation-reduction potential of the waste water before treatment and that at a desired treatment value is calculated previously, and this difference is detected to control the amt. of the agent to be injected. Thus, excess addn. of the agent is prevented to considerably save the agent.
