Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the loss at low load factors, when a transformer is used in a system wherein the variation in load factor is large, by providing a tap changing device to each of primary and secondary windings and effecting the tap change while keeping constant the winding ratio of primary winding to secondary winding.
CONSTITUTION: Electric power is supplied to a load 1 through a transformer 5 connected between the load 1 and a generator 2. In some factories the load factor is high during the day time, but it falls down to almost zero during the night. Therefore, the primary and secondary windings of the transformer are each provided with a tap changing device 10, and by actuating an electric operation mechanism 9 with a timer 13 set to the operation time, two changing devices 10 are changed at the same time. At this time, when the load factor is high, a terminal 14 is connected to a terminal 15, a terminal 16, to a terminal 17, a terminal 18, to a terminal 19, and a terminal 20, to a terminal 21. When the load is low, a terminal 15 is connected to a terminal 16, a terminal 19, to a terminal 20, and terminals 14 and 17 are used as primary terminals and terminals 18 and 21, as secondary terminals. In this way, the change-over is effected while keeping constant the winding ratio of the primary winding to the secondary winding.
