PURPOSE:To deflect ink drops by simple construction without applying saw tooth waves to deflecting electrodes by a mechanism wherein a plurality of the deflecting electrodes are mounted, the deflecting electrodes for applying deflecting voltage are changed, and the deflecting starting locations of flying ink drops are altered. CONSTITUTION:When deflecting electrodes are formed in plural numbers 4a, 4a1- 4a7 and printing data are inputted to a decoder 6, output appears at one of the output terminals of the decoder 6 in response to the printing data, and inputted to a high voltage switching circuit 7, and deflecting voltage is applied to one among the deflecting electrodes 4a1-4a7. When the deflecting voltage is applied to the deflecting electrode 4a1, ink drops 3 are deflected at the locations a of a recording medium 5, and when the voltage is applied to the electrode 4a2 deflection is started being delayed only by an interval l, the quantity of deflection becomes little, and the ink drops are deflected at locations b.
