Abstract

PURPOSE: To simplify sealing of a rotary engine, by forming a housing having an annular space at an outer circumferential portion of a constant-speed rotor and an inconstant-speed rotor, said annular space being formed by the housing portion formed integrally with said two rotors, and thereby reducing those portions causing relative movement.
CONSTITUTION: An annular space 100, in which pistons are rotated, is formed by the first housing portion 37 located at an outer circumferential portion of constant- speed rotor 30 and the second housing portion 97 located also at an outer circumferential portion of inconstant-speed rotor 90. The annular space 100 is sealed hermetically by ring-shaped side seals 41, 42. Pistons 32, 33, 92, 93 have a certain length in the circumferential direction and are arranged such that C-shaped pistion seals 35 or the like can be fitted to the opposite end portions of the same. Thus, it is enabled to accomplish tight seal between these pistons and the housing portions.
