Abstract

PURPOSE: To achieve the prolonging of the life of a rotary brush without damaging the photoreceptor by increasing the rotating speed of the brush according to the abrasion of the hair of the rotary brush.
CONSTITUTION: Arrangement is so made that the revolutional speed from a motor is changed by a variable speed mechanism 7 and is thence transmitted to a rotary brush 3. The adjustment of this variable speed mechanism 7 is done according to the abrasion of the hair 4 of the brush and is automatically done by detecting the change in torque. It is also possible to perform this by counting copying sheet number and doing this according to the number counted. If in this way the rotating speed of the rotary brush 3 is increased according to the abrasion of the hair 4, the times of sweeping the photoreceptor 1 by the hair 4 within the same time increases and therefore the degradation of the cleaning performance owing to the abrasion of the hair 4 may be compensated and the life of the rotary brush can be prolonged.
