Abstract

PURPOSE: To selectively connect several kinds of clock drive portions by means of one kind of drive circuit, by modulating frequency dividing signals with comparatively high frequency dividing signals with comparatively low frequency.
CONSTITUTION: A frequency dividing circuit 1b of a drive circuit 1 divides the reference frequency of a crystal oscillation circuit 1a, generates clock pulses in 64Hz and 1/12Hz, inputs the pulses to a modulation circuit 1c and sends out modulation signals to terminals X, Y. A two pointers system clock drive portion 2 takes pulses in 1/12Hz in a motor by connecting the input terminals of the motor to the terminals X, Y. In this case, the winding of the motor functions as a fillter element because an AC motor is used, thus directly driving the motor by modulation signals by means of the circuit 1c. If the drive portion is also connected to the terminals X, Y in a three pointers system clock needing clock signals in 64Hz, the motor is driven in the same manner as mentioned above when employing the AC motor. When using a DC motor, the motor can be driven if continuous signals in 64Hz are obtained by employing an OR gate.
