Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve response in the transient state to eliminate the noise band of a reproduced picture, by detecting the phase of a recording track by a reproducing control signal to displace the mechanical position of the reproducing magnetic head. CONSTITUTION:In case of still picture reproducing, though the control signal and the subcontrol signal which are output signals of control head 17 and rotation phase detector 20 are not inputted to operating circuit 33 because magnetic tape 23 is stopped, electric-mechanical conversion element 21 is driven by the signal, which is phase-synchronized with rotation of video head 1, to perform tracking. In case of double-speed reproducing, one control signal is obtained in one field, and electric- mechanical conversion element 21 is driven by the operation among the control signal, the subcontrol signal, and a signal indicating a fixed time unit of the video signal, to perform tracking.
