Abstract

PURPOSE: To separate α, β-lipoprotein securely and promptly, by using a mixture of one or more kinds of polyanion, bivalent metal ion, alkali metal ion, and NH4 ion, as precipitant, and adding one or more kinds of specified precipitation aids.
CONSTITUTION: In order to separate lipoprotein from serum or the like in diagnosis of arteriosclerosis, coronary heart disease and other symptoms, a mixture of polyanion such as heparin, and bivalent metal ion such as Mn and Ca, or the solution added with one or more kinds of alkali metal ion and NH4 + is used as precipitant. Also, as precipitation aid, one or more kinds of alumina, aluminum silicate, fibrin, fibrinogen, and albumin are used. Said precipitant and precipitation aid are separately added or added as mixture to a sample fluid such as serum. Then, the sample is centrifuged, and cholesterols in α-lipoprotein in the supernatant and β-lipoprotein in the precipitate are measured. Thus, the lipoprotein of low molecular weight, which has been conventionally difficult to separate, may be completely separated, which, therefore, contributes greatly to diagnosis.
