PURPOSE:To make unnecessary the large backup roll, and to make cheap the installation cost, by installing the hydraulic pressure accumulator so as to envelop the drum circumference over the effective drum length of the work roll, in the support beam, and by making the inner pressure of this hydraulic pressure accumulator to uphold the reaction force against the rolling load to be loaded on the work roll. CONSTITUTION:The upper and lower support beams 3, 4, are built in the mill housing 5 respectively at a suitable distance (h) in order to prevent the contact with work rolls 1, 2. Besides, the hydraulic pressure accumulator 6 is installed in the beams 3, 4, so as to envelop the drum circumference of work rolls 1, 2, over their effective drum length, opposing to the mutually facing rolling work operating zone of two work rolls 1, 2. The high prssured liquid is introduced from the supply source into this hydraulic pressure accumulator 6 through the liquid inlet 7; the inner pressure of the hydraulic pressure accumulator 6 upholds the reaction force against the rolling load to be loaded on two work rolls 1, 2, at rolling work. By this apparatus, the rigidity of the rolled sheet in the sheet-passing direction becomes large so that the drum diameter of work rolls 1, 2, can be reduced.
