Abstract

PURPOSE:To raise the storability of an organic electrolyte cell using a light metal as a negative side active material by combining the hydroxyl groups on the surface of a metal oxide as a positive side active material with a metal ion in a chelate- bonding manner. CONSTITUTION:When the Li sheet 4 as a negative pole is used and also a metal oxide active material, e.g., MnO2, etc., is used as the positive pole 5, the hydroxyl groups present on the surface of the said metal oxide is combined with a metal ion in a chelate-bonding manner. The preferred metal ion taking part in the said chelate-bonding includes Cu, Ni, Pb, Co, Zn, Fe, Pd, Cd, Mn, Mg, and Al ions, and also the preferred metal oxide as the positive side active material includes MnO2, MoO3, V2O5, Co3O4, CuO2, etc. The formation of the chelate-bonds is selectively attained by dipping the said metal oxide in a solution containing the said metal ion or adding a salt containing the said metal ion to the electrolyte.
