Abstract

PURPOSE: To correct automatically positional slippage between the magnetic head and the magnetic disc dependent upon temperature change, by providing a bimetal mechanism in the pulley fitted to the pulse motor which moves the magnetic head.
CONSTITUTION: The other end of ring bimetal 10 where one end is free is fixed to pulley metal fitting 14 fixed to pulse motor axis 13, thereby constituting plley 5. The thermal expansion rate of base 9 is set to an optimum value in the most inside circumference position of magnetic head 2 on magnetic disc 1. When carriage 3 supporting head 2 moves to the most outside circumference of disc 1 and the temperature rises, expansion dependent upon thermal expansion of disc 1 is large for belt 4; however, since bimetal 10 expands according to the rotation angle, namely, the movement distance of head 2 and the radius is increased, the movement distance of belt 4 is increased, and head 2 moves in the outside circumference direction of disc 1 furthermore. In case that the temperature is lowered, operations reverse to the above are performed. As a result, positional slippage between the magnetic head and the disc is corrected automatically.
