Abstract
PURPOSE:To surely detect that the rolled material is bitten into the roll, by previously measuring the relation between the roll gap and the reaction force against the rolling load during the rolling work, and by comparing the present reaction force under the rolling work with the reference value of the reaction force. CONSTITUTION:At rolling the material 1 under the roll-kissing condition by the rolling stand 2, a preparatory measurement is carried out on the roll gap Gn and the sum (Fn+Fo), in which Fn is for the reaction force during the rolling work to be measured by the load cell 5 and Fo is for the reference reaction force to represent the metal-in condition. The comparator 19 operates the subtraction (F-Fn) in which F is for the preset reaction force and Fn is for the reference reaction force corresponding to the present roll gap's set point, and then, the comparator 19 operates the subtraction (F-Fn)-Fo and judges the metal-in condition. As a result, if the material 1 is being bitten into the rolling roll 3, the metal-in signal is produced to surely inform of the fact that the material 1 is bitten into the roll 3.
