Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve the combustion efficiency in a combustion chamber and to reduce the production of harmful components by providing a heat insulation body on the upper wall of a combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine and also on the top surface of a piston. CONSTITUTION:Cooling water path 4 is provided on the outer surface of a cylinder 2, in which a piston 6 slides. Inside the cylinder head 3 is formed a cooling chamber 17, which is cooled by cooling air drawn by a pump (not shown). On its lower part is formed the combustion chamber 13 via the combustion chamber wall 12. The combustion chamber wall 12 is made of a heat insulating material, and the top part of piston 6 is also made of heat insulating material 7.
