Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent occurrence of separation and defect on a brake block by increasing the thickness of an adhesive layer to larger than the height of the bent portion of a reinforcing plate when producing the sintered alloy brake block by pressure bonding a steel reinforcing plate through the adhesive layer to a sintered frictional block to form rugged bonding surfaces on the adhesive layer and the frictional material.
CONSTITUTION: An adhesive layer powder is charged into a mold to be disposed at the adhesive surface side of a sintered frictional block 1, a frictional powder is then charged into the mold to press the powder so as to mold a molded element having a frictional material 1a and an adhesive layer 3. Then, a bent portion 2a contacting with the end surface of the layer 3 in sliding direction is formed at a copper-plated steel reinforcing plate 2, the reinforcing plate 2 is superimposed on the molded element. The plate 2 thus superimposed thereon is pressure sintered to produce a brake block. In this case, the thickness of the layer 3 is formed larger than the height of the bent portion 2a of the plate 2, and rugged surfaces are formed with a number of circular recesses 3a on the adhesive layer 3 and the sintered frictional material 1, or with wavy surface thereon to prevent the occurrence of separation and defect on the brake block due to cracks occurred thereon.
